PR strategy

The best PR campaigns are backed up with a strong PR strategy, which is tailored to your business, objectives and audiences.

Our PR strategy services help to determine the who, what, where, when and why behind your PR activity.

How we create your PR strategy

Whether we’re working with you on an ongoing PR retainer or we’re brought into work on a specific campaign, we start all client activity a PR strategy workshop, either face-to-face or online. We then team the discussion points with additional PR research and insights.

From this, we produce a bespoke PR strategy and a plan of action that is in line with your business objectives and budget.

We review your strategy and plan regularly throughout your PR campaign to make sure it’s still relevant as your business grows and develops.

Frequently asked questions

What do you cover in your PR strategy development?

As part of our PR strategy development for clients, we look at:

  1. Your business: Objectives, values, purpose, perception, key messages
  2. Your audience: Customers, employees, investors, influencers, stakeholders
  3. Your market: Including your industry, competitors, trends
  4. Channels: Paid, earned, owned and shared channels
How do you develop bespoke PR strategies for clients?

We start all client PR activity by developing a PR strategy. Often this involves a PR strategy workshop, face-to-face or online. Then we team this with more insights and research. We then produce a PR strategy document and plan, which we will run through with clients for feedback before finalising the document.

Who is involved with the PR strategy workshops?

All our PR strategy workshops are run with a minimum of two senior PR consultants. We will discuss with you who would be best to attend from your business, but it’s usually good to have employees who represent different parts of the business – e.g. marketing, sales and operations. We’ll always tailor the PR strategy workshop to your specific needs. We’ve ran PR strategy workshops with one person through to groups of 20 or more!

How long does it take to develop a PR strategy?

Starting with the PR strategy workshops: We can tailor the length and agendas to meet your needs, but typically we allocate around half a day for a workshop. In some cases, we can run a streamlined version, which takes approximately two hours. In other cases, we might need a whole day to run the PR workshop, with some additional time for further interviews with key employees and stakeholders.

Once we’ve got the insights from you and your business, we’ll go away and add to these and bring it all together into a useful document that clearly outlines your PR strategy, which can take anything from one week to three or more weeks, depending on the size, scope and complexity of the business.

How useful is the PR strategy?

It’s vital! We need to make sure we have a PR strategy in place so that all PR activity is in line with your business, objectives and brand personality, while also taking into consideration your audiences, the wider market and your competitors. Once the PR strategy has been produced, many of our clients use it as documents to help them onboard new employees as it’s full of useful information.
