Unhooked joins the Construction Inclusion Coalition
We’re pleased to announce that Unhooked has joined the Construction Inclusion Coalition (CIC), a cross-industry initiative focused on improving equity, diversity and inclusion across the construction sector.
The Coalition brings together organisations from across the built environment, including manufacturers, suppliers, merchants and industry bodies, all committed to the #BuiltOnBetter pledge and creating a more inclusive future for construction.
As a PR agency working across construction, home improvement and the built environment, Unhooked supports businesses throughout the sector with strategic communications and campaigns designed to help brands grow, build trust and connect with audiences.
By joining the Coalition, we will work alongside other members to support conversations around inclusion, talent, workplace culture and the future of the industry.
Claire Gamble, Managing Director at Unhooked Communications, said: “Construction has a huge impact on people’s lives and society, yet conversations around diversity, inclusion and attracting talent have been going on for years. As an all-female team working in construction PR, it’s a topic that is particularly important to us. We know first-hand how varied, rewarding and innovative the sector can be, but we also know there are still perceptions and barriers that need to change. Even now, when we tell people we specialise in construction, it’s often met with surprise. But once you start talking about the role the built environment plays in everything from health and wellbeing to the economy, sustainability and community outcomes, people quickly realise just how important and interesting the industry really is.
“Joining the Construction Inclusion Coalition will give us the opportunity to play a more active role in supporting positive change across the sector, as well as help us better support our clients as they look to attract and retain diverse talent and build more inclusive workplaces.”
The Coalition was established to help drive real, measurable progress across the industry, with members committing to action around areas including education, recruitment, workplace culture, reporting and accountability. The wider initiative aims to help construction better reflect the communities it builds for while also supporting the long-term future of the industry.
