Supporting parents caring for a child with mental health challenges
Over the past few months we’ve been busy working with the Parenting Mental Health team to help them develop and launch an important piece of research, and we are proud to say it is now live.
Over the past few months we’ve been busy working with the Parenting Mental Health team to help them develop and launch an important piece of research, and we are proud to say it is now live.
The report – Parenting a child with poor mental health: A study of lived experiences – explores the impact on parents when they are caring for a child who is struggling with their mental health. From juggling work commitments to advocating for their child with teachers and medical professionals, the report shines a light on the effect this has on families.
Sadly, the overwhelming majority of parents experience severe stress, with many seeking counselling for themselves and experiencing physical health issues, as well as reporting financial worries as a result of caring for their child.
As well as supporting the charity to develop the report, which was written by Unhooked Communications and designed by Leyla Alexander, we partnered with Be Broadcast who supported with the launch of the report across broadcast media, resulting in over 300 pieces of media coverage, including BBC and commercial radio.
The Parenting Mental Health research is an important first step in making positive changes and providing support to those in need and we are proud of the team behind it. You can download the report for free on the website, where you can also find a host of resources and advice if you are struggling.
