2026 construction events and exhibitions: How to maximise PR opportunities
Already, 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for construction events and exhibitions. We’ve had announcements about several big events joining forces including UK Construction Week and Futurebuild in May, the National Painting and Decorating Show co-locating with InstallerSHOW in June, and London Build Expo and Elemental London coming together in November.
These partnerships promise bigger, more engaged audiences, but for brands looking to make an impact with their event PR and marketing, it means the stakes are higher than ever. That’s where the team at leading construction PR agency, Unhooked Communications, comes in.
The impact of events and exhibitions in construction PR and marketing
What hasn’t changed are the benefits that trade shows offer to construction brands. They provide an unrivalled opportunity for getting face time with existing and prospective customers, key stakeholders and the media to boost brand visibility and build credibility. Those vital in person conversations support lead generation and help build meaningful relationships, something that will always be key when it comes to B2B sales thanks to the often longer buying cycles.
They also offer the perfect moment to launch new products or showcase new services or innovations, and of course there’s the chance to get your brand in front of a broad range of media titles by setting up 121s and creating standout thought leadership to support your presence.
This wide range of benefits means that events should be an integral part of any integrated construction PR strategy – supporting content generation, earned media, social media and amplifying partnerships.
Key construction events and exhibitions for your diary in 2026
Despite the consolidation of some events, the calendar for shows and exhibitions across the UK and internationally is still a busy one covering everything from building products to architecture, infrastructure, sustainability and technology. Here are some key dates for your diary:
KBB Show: 1st to 4th March 2026 at NEC Birmingham
Celebrating its 40th year, this is Europe’s leading KBB event. It connects leading kitchen, bedroom and bathroom brands with retailers, designers, developers and installers. Our client Häfele UK will be returning to the exhibition this year to showcase their innovative products, all designed to maximise space in kitchens.
UK Construction Week and Futurebuild: 12th to 14th May 2026 at Excel London
Now billed as a ‘super event’ for the UK’s built environment, this brings together two of the longest standing construction events. UKCW has always been rooted in construction (the clue really is in the name!), infrastructure, materials and innovation, with Futurebuild focusing on sustainability and future-focused construction for architects, developers and contractors. This new combined trade event will also be home to the Stone and Surfaces Show.
Clerkenwell Design Week, 19th to 21st May 2026 across Clerkenwell
The UK’s leading design festival returns to the streets of Clerkenwell this spring and has now established itself as the go-to for architects, designers and specifiers looking for inspiration across a range of products. Brands across the board open the doors to their showroom, enticing visitors in with talks, workshops, tasty food and some spectacular parties. The brand-led installations dotted around the borough are always a huge draw for visitors and a chance to showcase real creativity.
InstallerSHOW, 23rd to 25th June 2026 at NEC Birmingham
Offering the ‘complete installation ecosystem under one roof’ this one is for the installers. It calls itself the definitive platform for heat, water, air, energy and the built environment with InstallerSHOW, InstallerBUILD, InstallerELECTRIC and InstallerK&B forming four distinct areas at the event alongside the Painting and Decorating Show and the World Plumbing Conference. Unhooked’s client City Plumbing will be at the event with a great stand, promising lots of great interactions and fun for visitors.
HIX (Hotel Interiors Experience) Europe, 25th to 26th November 2026 at Excel London
London Build Expo & Elemental London, 25th to 26th November 2026 at Excel London
These events coming together is being described as creating the UK’s most comprehensive platform for construction, building services and sustainability professionals. Elemental, launched in 2025, is all about the transition to a smarter, greener built environment, while London Build has a huge focus on inclusivity, uniting people from across the sector.
How to maximise the impact of your PR around construction events and exhibitions
As a leading construction PR agency, working with some of the leading brands in the built environment, we’ve got decades of experience helping businesses maximise the impact of their events and exhibitions.
If you’re a construction brand considering exhibiting at one of these events, or you’ve already signed up, getting the most out of your PR strategy should be central to your plans. Having a great stand is one thing, people knowing about it is another. Here are some things to consider
1: Before the event
- Work out which media titles you want to target and find engaging angles for pre-event press content
- Make the most of all PR and marketing opportunities provided as part of your exhibitor package. It’s always worth asking if you can get a coveted speaking slot as part of the deal.
- Tease details about product or service launches, speakers, partnerships or thought leadership activity taking place at the show
- Set up media interviews, brief key spokespeople and prepare your messaging
- Make sure you’re thinking about promotion holistically through PR, social and email marketing in the build up
- Plan some memorable giveaways to keep you in the minds of visitors long after the event
2: During the event
- Co-ordinate media meetings and drop-ins for attending journalists
- Use your presence to capture content whether it’s video, photography or on-stand interviews
- Tell your audience you’re there with social activity during the show and by engaging with event content
- Use the opportunity to collaborate with partners, speakers or the organisers to amplify your activity
- Use any downtime as an opportunity to keep an eye on what your competitors are up to
3: After the event
- Follow up with post-event press releases and draft thought leadership sparked from your activity
- Repurpose content into blogs, case studies and sales assets
- Make sure you follow-up any leads – customers and media – and track their journey
- Use insights gained at the event to fuel future PR campaigns
4: Measuring the value of construction events and exhibitions
OK so the show’s over, you’ve got sore feet and a mega step count to prove it, but how do you demonstrate the ROI of taking part in one of these construction events? The event organisers will be able to give you footfall numbers, but we need to move beyond volume and vanity metrics and understand how your activity and PR have really shifted the dial.
- Keep track of all PR coverage before, during and after the event
- Follow up with journalists you speak to at the show and use those conversations as a springboard for future thought leadership
- Measure engagement with exhibition content on social media
- Take the time to track leads and ensure they make it into your CRM system
- Understand what worked and what didn’t to inform your future event strategy
How to get more value from your construction events in 2026
The opportunity for brands at these events is huge, but there’s no escaping the fact that there is a lot to consider when it comes to strategic PR to support your activity and make it meaningful.
