kbb2020: Europe's leading kitchen, bedroom and bathroom design show
This year's kbb show took place at the NEC in Birmingham from 1 March to 4 March. As one of Europe's leading kitchen, bedroom and bathroom design shows, it's a major exhibition for our client Häfele UK. And this year's was a particularly big show for global manufacturer and distributor of furniture fittings, lighting, hardware and ironmongery, Häfele, as it's celebrating its 40th anniversary in the UK.

PR support at kbb show
Exhibitions are not only great for businesses to get in front of their customers and prospects, but they also provide a unique opportunity to build relationships with journalists and get featured in the media.
At kbb, for example, lots of journalists and editors from trade publications serving the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and home interiors market, as well as consumer magazines, come to the event to find out about the latest trends, products, services and news.
As a homes interiors PR agency, one of our roles is to support clients at exhibitions to maximise the number of media opportunities. This includes:
- writing and pitching preview show press releases
- helping develop content for own channels
- setting up media interviews
- preparing press packs
- meeting journalists at the event
- sending images, videos and press information after the show.

Smart spaces and success for Häfele at kbb
One of the big pulls of the kbb show for Häfele was its 30m2 Smart Spaces apartment. Journalists and customers alike loved the mini apartment which used a range of Häfele products, which enable functional, flexible living.
This is a topic we've been focusing on a lot from a PR point of view. With multigenerational living on the rise, people getting older, and the average size of the UK home getting smaller, Häfele is committed to showing how it can support customers in creating more life per m2 in the home.
Via its 30m2 Smart Spaces apartment, Häfele showcased a range of innovative products, which enable functional, flexible living. It explained that through early engagement it could bring designers and manufacturers space enhancing ideas to life more easily for their customers. Clever solutions were created with the use of the company’s Slido sliding door gear, which can be used to create concealed areas in the home when there's no room for hinged doors, as well as Accuride Sliding Track System, which enables features such as kitchen appliances to be hidden under worktops when not in use.
Other notable products on show included new hinge, flap and pull out storage fittings from Häfele and partner brands Grass and Vauth-Sagel.
Loox, a plug and play lighting system from Hafele, also took centre stage at the show, with attendees getting an exclusive look at forthcoming extensions to the range. At the show, Häfele also displayed two new AluSplash colours, a vibrant red and a bold teal, taking its range of metallic colourways up to 12 seamless, high gloss options.
But it wasn't just products that were on display - Häfele also had a visual timeline of key moments in its UK history since 1980. The business also revealed a new customer service charter, detailing the company’s added value services, including its forthcoming Lighting Design Service, and Häfele to Order, its bespoke cutting and packaging service.
