When it comes to events in the PR world, many think exhibitions and networking is about as exciting as it gets. But every now and then, you’re given the opportunity to do something a little bit more special, and still call it your job.

In June, we attended the Häfele Studio Partner Awards – an annual event celebrating some of our client’s most valued customers and the amazing projects they deliver for homeowners up and down the country. This year’s event was held at Warwick Castle – a stunning backdrop that was blessed with the perfect British summer’s evening.

On the guestlist were Häfele’s incredible team of area sales managers who provide kitchen studios with everything they need to create functional and stylish kitchens and bathrooms, designed around their customers’ needs. Then, the kitchen studio teams themselves, who had the opportunity to step away from their day job, get dressed up for the evening, and reflect on everything they’ve achieved in the last 12 months. Häfele’s senior management team made sure not to miss the most showstopping night of the year. And finally, a selection of industry journalists were invited to come along and be part of the action – which is where we came in.

We spend countless hours working with journalists in the KBB sector, to understand what they need from us to inform and inspire their readers of how Häfele’s products and services can make their job easier. We’ve built relationships up with our key media over the years, seeing them regularly at trade shows and press events. But being able to invite them along to the Studio Partner Awards was a great way for us to be able to say thank you for their support and working in partnership with us and Häfele.

Roll up, roll up: Celebrations and media relations  

After gathering for welcome drinks in the castle’s Peacock Garden, we were escorted by circus entertainers to a big top in the castle’s grounds where we were entertained by acrobats and contortionists, jugglers and firebreathers as we ate an exquisite three course meal. Then, we were taken through a selection of incredible projects from Häfele’s studio partners as the awards for all the categories were handed out. Later, guests walked together up to the castle itself to enjoy drinks and dancing in one of its armoury rooms – a unique setting that really set the evening apart.

Of course, for us, there was still a job to be done. Prior to the event, we’d supported Häfele with media materials announcing the shortlist for each of the award categories. On the night, it was our job to ensure the press releases announcing the winners was finalised and ready to share with the journalists as soon as possible. Plus, it was a great opportunity to get to know the media teams in a fun and informal environment – something that’s key to building strong professional relationships.
